READING, Pa. - Ursinus senior center Carolyn
Konstanzer (Hilltown, Pa./Pennridge) poured in a game-high
18 points and ten rebounds as the Bears (2-0) defeated Albright
(2-1) 58-50 Sunday afternoon in the championship of the 2009
Albright Tip-Off tournament.
Konstanzer, who was named the MVP of the tournament, grabbed nine
defensive rebounds for Ursinus.
Sophomore forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St.
Basil's) and senior forward Julie Bown (Lower
Gwynedd, Pa./Penn Charter) were named to the
all-tournament team as well.
Teuber finished with 11 points in the championship game, while
junior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper
Dublin) had ten points. Teuber also finished with eight
rebounds.
With the score 16-15 in favor of Ursinus with 3:48 left in the
first half, Ursinus pulled away with a 10-1 run over a span of
3:10. At the end of the run, Ursinus had a nine-point lead at 26-17
on a layup by sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison,
Pa./C.B. East).
In the second half, Albright got to within two at 52-50
with 1:16 left on a pair of foul shots by Rory Yerkes. However, a
jumper by Bown and four straight foul shots by Hilf gave the Bears
the win.
Ursinus opens up Centennial Conference play on Tuesday night at
home, as they take on Johns Hopkins.
