COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus sophomore forward Lindsay
Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) had a team-high 15
points, while senior center Carolyn Konstanzer (Hilltown,
Pa./Pennridge) had 13 points, including the
1,000th point of her career, as the Bears (5-2, 3-2
Centennial) defeated Haverford (3-4, 1-3 Centennial) 66-55 on
Wednesday night in women's basketball play.
Konstanzer scored her 1,000th career point with 15:57
left to go in the first half, becoming the 11th player
in program history to accomplish that feat.
Freshman guard Nina Voith had 15 points for Haverford, while
freshman forward Victoria Sobocinski had 12 points off the bench
for the Fords.
For Ursinus, sophomore guard Jen Sroba (Newtown,
Pa./Council Rock North) and junior guard Jaclyn
Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) each had 11 points for
the Bears.
After giving up the opening basket of the game, Ursinus went on a
18-2 scoring run over the next 6:54 to take an 18-4 lead on a
basket by Teuber.
The Bears, who never trailed save for the opening basket, went up
by as much as 16 in the first half with 12:03 to go on a pair of
foul shots by Sroba (21-5). Ursinus maintained the double digit
lead throughout the first half, leading by 14 (35-21) at
intermission.
In the second half, Haverford got as close as seven points with
10:37 left on a pair of foul shots by Sobocinski, but, could not
get any closer.
Ursinus held a commanding 48-38 lead on the glass, with Teuber
picking up a game-high ten rebounds. She also collected four
steals.
Sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./C.B.
East) had five assists for the Bears, who will host
Gettysburg on Saturday.
