SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Trailing by ten at halftime, the Ursinus
College women's basketball team scored 41 points in the final 20
minutes to take a 64-59 win from Swarthmore in a early season
Centennial Conference matchup.
The Bears, who trailed the Garnet (2-4, 1-3 Centennial) by as much
as 13 in the second half, went on a 10-10-2 run over a 4:53 portion
of the second half to seal the win.
Ursinus (4-2, 2-2 Centennial) was led by senior center
Carolyn Konstanzer (Hilltown, Pa./Pennridge) who
scored a team-high 17 points before fouling out. She is now just
five points away from scoring 1,000 for her career.
Sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./C.B.
East) added in 16 points while junior guard Jaclyn
Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) scored 11. Sophomore
forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St.
Basil's) had nine points and ten rebounds as the Bears
outrebounded the Garnet 45-32.
For Swarthmore, Kathryn Stockbower had a game-high 19 points,
including her 1,000th career point with 6:51 left in the
first half. She also collected a game-high 11 rebounds.
Ursinus took an early six-point advantage in the first half at 15-9
on a three-pointer by Rosati, Swarthmore would then rally to take a
16-15 lead with 8:29 left on a three-pointer by Pamela Costello.
The Garnet would go up by as much as ten three times, including a
halftime lead of 33-23.
In the second half, Ursinus trailed by one at 49-48 with 8:45 left.
Rosati then scored eight of the Bears' next ten points to give them
at 58-51 lead with 3:52 left. From that point, the Garnet got as
close as two points the rest of the way.
