Softball sweeps two on Day Two in South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – On day two of its trip to South Carolina, the Bears picked up two more wins to move their record to 3-1.

In the opener, the Bears defeated Mount Aloysius 3-2, then Ursinus (3-1) beat MacMurray by a score of 4-1 in the nightcap.

In the first game, senior first baseman Ellen Goldstein (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and junior second baseman Zoe Heinke (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) each had two hits, with Heinke having three RBI. Goldstein had two runs score, as Ursinus scored one run in the fourth when Heinke singled to right to score Goldstein.

In the sixth, Heinke doubled to left scoring Goldstein and freshman shortstop Arastina Barry (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley).

Freshman pitcher Kaitlyn Willis (Perryville, Md./Perryville) got the win, striking out four and walking none.

In game two, freshman designated hitter Bridget Winay (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) had two hits and two RBI, while Barry and freshman third baseman Rachel Hyman (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) each had two hits.

Heinke got the win, as she struck out 12 and walked one while allowing just four hits.
