Softball sweeps Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Ursinus swept its final non-conference doubleheader Thursday afternoon, by winning two games against Delaware Valley.

The Bears took game one 3-0, then needed only five innings to defeat the Aggies (9-23) in game two by a 15-2 score.

In game one, Ursinus (13-18) got two runs in the top of the sixth as Monica Bonitatis and Ellen Goldstein scored on a two-run single by Deanna Madison. Goldstein would drive in the third run of the game in the top of the seventh, as she flied out to deep center, scoring Emelie McFarland.

From there, Zoe Heinke did the rest as she scatted two hits and struck out eight to improve to 5-6.

In game two, Ursinus scored eight runs in the top of the first and added three more in the third.

Heinke was 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Amy Gentile was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and a RBI. She just missed a home run for the cycle.

Allison Pfrommer had two triples in the game, as she finished with three RBI as well.

Kelly Schymanski pitched five innings, striking out six as she improved to 7-10.

Ursinus hosts Swarthmore on Saturday.
