Softball swept by Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College softball team was swept by Gettysburg on Saturday in a key Centennial Conference doubleheader.

In the first game, Gettysburg won in nine innings by a 7-6 score, while in game two, the Bullets (14-9, 5-1 Centennial) won on a walkoff home run 8-6 in the eighth over the Bears (12-11, 2-4 Centennial).

In the opener, Ursinus took a 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth as Kate Kehoe had a two run triple, while Jennilyn Weber had a sacrifice RBI.

Gettysburg scored two in the bottom of the fifth and the six to go up 6-5, before Ursinus tied it in the sixth on an error.

Gettysburg won the game in the bottom of the ninth on a bases-loaded walk.

Both Kelly Schymanski and Allison Pfrommer had three hits in the loss, while Kehoe had two.

On the mound, Weber took the loss falling to 7-6. She struck out three and walked six in 8.1 innings of work.

In the second game, Ursinus trailed 6-4 going into the seventh before Kelsey Coyne hit a two-run triple to right with two outs in the inning.

Abby Sido finished game two going 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Nikki Djambinov and Schymanski each had two hits.

Schymanski took the loss in relief of Caitlin Whelan. Whelan started the game, going 4-1 innings. She struck out one and walked two. Schymanski pitched 3.1 innings allowing a walk.
