Softball falls in consolation final to Dickinson, 5-2

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College softball team finished up their season with a loss in the consolation final of the 2011 Centennial Conference Tournament as they fell to Dickinson 5-2 Sunday morning.

The Red Devils (20-16) scored four runs in the top of the first and then added one in the top of the third for a 5-0 edge.

Ursinus put one back in the fourth as sophomore shortstop Kelli Jerdan (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) singled home sophomore pinch runner Sam Sinisi (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) with two outs, followed by an RBI groundout by Jerdan in the sixth that scored senior third baseman Kristen Gallagher (Newtown Square, Pa./Newtown Square) with two outs.

Junior second baseman Cassie Brown (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) finished with two hits on the day. Sophomore pitcher Jennilyn Weber (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley) took the loss, as she pitched 2.1 innings allowing five runs and striking out three.

Ursinus finished the season with a mark of 18-18.
