Men's XC Matches Best CC Finish

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's cross country team matched the best finish in program history by taking sixth at the Centennial Conference championship on Saturday.

The Bears posted an average time of 27:14 at the 8-kilometer course at Gettysburg, placing sixth for the third time in team history and the first since 1997.

James McDaid was first across the line for Ursinus, crossing in 28th place overall with a mark of 26:39.0. Marcos Maciel was hot on his heels, completing the race in 26:41.8 to take 31st.

Kyle Berardi enjoyed a strong morning as the third Bear finisher, landing in 45th with a time of 27:15.3, and Ed Martinez was four places back at 27:28.9.

Steve Wilkins (28:05.0) and Daniel Powell (28:05.4) were stride for stride, and Jesse Wun was the seventh Ursinus runner to finish at 28:17.3 with John Delia just two seconds behind.

Payton Stanziani (29:30.3), Brandon Slaboda (30:16.4), and Colin McCarty (31:08.5) also competed for the Bears.

The men's cross country team hosts its annual Fall Twilight meet on November 8 before taking on the NCAA Mideast Regional at Lehigh on November 16.
