Men's Track & Field Starts Weekend at Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team opened competition at the two-day Widener Invitational on Friday afternoon.

 

 

There were four events held on the Friday portion of the meet which included the shot put, discus throw, 1,000 meters, and 5,000 meters.

 

 

Junior Pat Patterson-Zuber led six Bears in the shot put with a 10th place finish after tallying a throw of 43-6 ft. Freshman Tom Wood followed with a throw of 43-4 ft. to place 11th behind Patterson-Zuber while senior Nick Galbraith finished 12th after posting a throw of 43-2 ft. Junior Isaiah Battle recorded a 15th place finish with a mark of 42-5 ft.

 

 

Battle paced the Bears in the Discus Throw with a 12th place finish after registering a mark of 133-9 ft. Freshman Chase Shaneman earned a 16th place finish with a throw of 124-6 ft.

 

 

Freshman Andy Shute recorded a fifth-place finish in the 10,000 meters after finishing the race with a 34:33.60. Shute was followed in sixth and seventh by teammates sophomore Henry Wilt and sophomore Ethan Chambers who posted times of 35:31.03 and 35:35.61, respectively. Sophomore Will Gillette rounded out the Bears in the event with a time of 36:51.31 and placed 10th. Senior Jesse Wun led the Bears in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 15:24.11 and finished 33rd overall.

 

The Bears get started for day two of the Widener Invitational tomorrow, April 23rd at 11 a.m.
