Men's Track & Field Jumps to Fourth in Latest Metro Regional Rankings

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus College men's outdoor track and field team made a big jump in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Metro Regional Rankings as they found themselves ranked No. 4 in the latest rankings released on Tuesday afternoon.

 

 

The Bears earned 456.70 rating points in the poll to rank fourth in the Metro region and was up three sports from last week's rankings. Ursinus ranks first among Centennial teams in the regional rankings with Haverford placing just behind in seventh with 372.47 rating points.

 

 

Ursinus has showcased tremendous depth so far this outdoor season as several student-athletes either atop or near the apex of the CC performance list after the opening two weeks.

 

 

Senior Tyler Reilly has begun to set himself up to take aim at adding to his career medal count by currently ranking first in the Centennial for the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.04 and third in the 400 meter dash at 49.94. Junior Daniel Tabor impressed over the weekend at the Ursinus Spring Invitational as he posted a time of 49.90 and is currently tied for first in the Centennial for the event. Tabor also ranks fourth in both the 100 and 200 with a top times of 11.15 and 22.68. Junior Payton Stanziani and sophomore Collin Ney rank sixth and seventh respectively in the 400-meter dash with posted times of 51.98 and 52.02. Senior Ocatvious Carter holds a top-10 spot in the 100-meter dash as well by sitting in ninth with a time of 11.22.

 

Freshman David Kenny (6th) and Paul Faggioli (8th) have showed well this season in the 800 meters as they hold top-10 times of 1:57.67 and 1:58.52, respectively.

 

Junior Daniel Maloney headlines the hurdles by holding in second with a time of 15.08 in the 110 while sophomore Devon Greaves and senior Brandon Slaboda both rank in the top-10 in the Centennial for the 400-meter hurdles.

 

Senior Zach Crebbin has continued to pace the jumps for the Bears as he currently ranks second in the high jump with a mark of 6-3.5 ft. Freshman Trey Rolle holds top-10 spots for the high jump (6th) and long jump (9th) while Tabor leads the Bears with a fourth-best triple jump mark at 42-8.75.

 

Freshman Brody Myers has continued his breakout collegiate debut season by currently holding the top mark in the pole vault with a school record 14-7.25 ft. He leads senior teammate Ken Sprankle in second with a top mark of 13-5.25. and freshman Evan Mitchell in ninth who holds a 11-11.75 mark for the event.

 

The Bears have been strong in the throws once again with numerous student-athletes in the top-10 for those respective events. Senior Nick Galbraith holds the best mark for the hammer throw at 151-8 ft. and juniors Isaiah Battle (3rd) and Tim Holzapfel (4th) sit just behind Galbraith. Battle paces the Bears in the discus by holding the second-best mark at 143-6 ft. Holzapfel sits in eighth for the discus while freshman Chase Shaneman has the sixth-best mark at 129-10. Battle holds a slight edge on Galbraith in top shot put throws and rank fourth and fifth right now in the Centennial. Junior Pat-Patterson Zuber owns the sixth-best shot put throw at 44-6 while freshman Tom Wood has the eighth-best shot put mark at 42 ft. Shaneman leads four Bears in the javelin that currently hold top-10 marks as he sits third with a throw of 158.5. Sophomore Eric Tanz, freshman Anthony Peloro, and Galbraith also hold fourth through six best throws for the javelin.

 

 The group of Reilly, Greaves, freshman Tyler Wilson, and Ney own a slight edge for top time in the 4x400 relay race after posting a time of 3:24.95.

 

 

Ursinus returns to action tomorrow, April 14th as they will compete in the Gwynedd Mercy Twilight Invitational starting at 3 p.m.
