Men's Track & Field Placed Second in Outdoor Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College Men's Track and Field team was picked second in the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field preseason poll, announced by the conference on Thursday.

 

 

Headlining the poll was Seven-time defending champion Johns Hopkins who received eight of the nine possible first-place votes in the poll to tally 81 total points. The Bears tallied 56 points to place second in the poll and earned the final first-place vote. Dickinson slotted in third in the poll with 43 points and was followed just behind by Haverford with 42 points then McDaniel with 35 points in fifth.

 

 

Swarthmore placed sixth in the poll with 2742 points while Franklin & Marshall came in seventh place with 23 points. Muhlenberg was in eighth with 22 points and Gettysburg rounded out the poll in ninth with 12 points.

 

 

Last season, Johns Hopkins collected 214 points to edge Dickinson in second place with 187 points. This year, Ursinus will be hosting the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Patterson Field from May 6th to May 8th

 

 

Ursinus registered a program-record 147 points in placing third for the second consecutive edition of the outdoor meet in 2021. Senior Tyler Reilly looks to build off his dominant indoor season after winning three individual medals at Centennial Championships last spring, bringing his outdoor total to 13. He was also a member of a pair of silver-medalist relay teams last season with his entire 4x400 relay team returning as well. Junior Payton Stanziani, senior Zach Crebbin, and sophomore Devon Greaves. Crebbin also earned his first career outdoor medal with a third-place effort in the high jump, collecting bronze with a mark of 6-4.75. Senior Octavious Carter earned his second career bronze medal in the 100-meter dash at the 2021 Conference Championship meet and junior Daniel Maloney will look to better his silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles from a season ago at conferences. Freshman Brody Myers seeks to duplicate his breakout indoor season on the pole vault as he gets set to compete in his first collegiate indoor season.

 

 

Ursinus opens their season on Saturday, April 2nd as they will compete in the Muhlenberg Invitational.
