Men's Track & Field Register School Record 11 All-Region Selections

NEW ORLEANS – The Ursinus College men's track and field team earned a program record 11 All-Metro Region selections for the 2021-22 indoor season, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.

Among the 11 selections for the Bears were: senior Octavious Carter in the 60-meter dash, senior Zach Crebbin in the High Jump, junior Daniel Maloney in the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Brody Myers in the pole vault, junior Tyler Ortiz plus senior Brandon Slaboda for the Heptathlon, senior Tyler Reilly for the 400-meter dash, and sophomore Collin Ney, junior Daniel Tabor, Reilly, and junior Payton Stanziani for the 4x400 relay.

To be named all-region, an athlete must finish either in the top five of an individual event or be part of a top-three relay team.

Carter's first All-Region nod comes off the heels of a 60-meter dash gold medal at the Indoor Centennial Conference Championships. He recorded a time of 7.00 and ranks fifth in the metro region for the event with that time.

Crebbin ranked third for the high jump in the metro region after posting a career-best mark of 6-6.75 ft. back in the Division III Invitational at the Armory. He finished second at the Centennial Indoor Championships for the event as well.

Maloney ranks second for the 60-meter hurdles in the Metro Region after setting an Ursinus program record time of 8.36 in the prelims of the event at the Centennial Indoor Championships. He earned his second-straight silver medal at the championship meet.

Myers is tied for the top pole vault mark in the Metro Region on an impressive mark of 15-5.5 ft. that he set last weekend at the AARTFC Championship. It was the third time he set the program record this season in the pole vault and he became the first Bear in program history to win gold at the Centennial Championships for the event.

Slaboda and Ortiz rank third and fourth, respectively for the heptathlon in the Metro Region and each earn their first career All-Region honors. Slaboda racked up 3467 points and finished fourth in the Centennial Championships while Ortiz followed just behind with a fifth-place finish on 3402 points.

Reilly earns his first individual All-Region nod after ranking third in the 400-meter dash for the Metro Region. He set a school record time of 49.63 last Saturday at the AARTFC Championship and won the gold medal in the 400 back in the Centennial Conference Championships. Reilly racked up four gold medals at the championship meet.

Ney, Reilly, Stanziani, and Tabor own the second-best time for the 4x400 relay at 3:20.33 that was set last weekend at the AARTFC Championship. It was the fastest flat track time in program history for the evet and is now the 11th fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. The group also took home gold at Centennial Conference Championships and Reilly earned his second career All-Region nod for the 4x400.
