COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Ursinus College indoor men's track and field team will begin competition in the two-day Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center starting on Saturday morning.

This will be the Bears' first indoor championship appearance after the 2021 meet was canceled due to COVID and the first time since 2018 they will be hosting the indoor championships.

The Bears earned 54 points to place second in the preseason vote among the Centennial coaches back in December, just behind eight-time defending champion Johns Hopkins. Ursinus finished second to the Blue Jays back in the 2020 championships, earning their first runner-up finish at the indoor championships since 2011.

Ursinus has four individuals with the top-seed in their respective events and 16 within the top-five. All four Bear relay teams competing are also ranked inside the top-two. Senior Nick Galbraith (15.88 meters) leads a 1-2 start for Ursinus in the weight throw with junior Isaiah Battle (15.86 meters). Freshman Brody Myers looks to continue his breakout indoor season in the pole vault coming in as the top-seed on his school record mark of 4.65 meters. Myers has recorded the six best marks for the event in the Centennial this season. Junior Daniel Maloney paces the 60-meter hurdles headed into the prelims with a top-seed time of 8,46 and senior Tyler Reilly holds the top mark in the 400-meter dash at 50,95. Reilly also will enter the 200-meter dash in second with a time of 22.85.

Senior Octavious Carter has two top-10 seeds for the championships, ranking second in the 60-meter dash (7.01) and seventh for the 200-meter dash (23.58). Junior Daniel Tabor holds three top-10 seeds with the highest being third in the 200-meter dash on a time of 23.39. Senior Zach Crebbin leads the jumping events with a third seed in the high jump after posting a mark this season of 2.00 meters.

The Bears hold three top-five seeds in the weight throw with junior Tim Holzapfel ranking fourth with a throw of 15.04 meters. Battle leads Ursinus in the shot put by ranking fourth with his throw of 13.67 meters.
