Men's Track & Field Posts Impressive Showing at Keogh Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – In a final tune-up before Centennial Conference Indoor Championships next week, the Ursinus Men's Track & Field team competed at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College on Saturday.

 

Freshman Brody Myers once again earned a first-place finish as he recorded a mark of 14-11 ft. It was the second-highest tally of the season for Myers and his fifth first place finish of the indoor season. Myers continues to pace the Centennial Conference in the event behind his school record mark set of 15-3 ft. Senior Ken Sprankle finished third in the pole vault as he matched his career best of 12-5.5 ft while freshman Evan Mitchell finished just behind in fourth with a career-best mark of 11-11.75 ft.

 

In the jumps, freshman Ethan Chambers tied for first place in the high jump on a mark of 5-7 ft. and junior Tyler Ortiz placed third with a jump of 5-1 ft. Senior Brandon Slaboda recorded a career-best in the long jump with a mark of 19-1.5 ft. and finished fourth overall.

 

Junior Isaiah Battled headlined a fleet of Bears in the shot put by finished second with a throw of 44-10.25, matching his school record. Senior Nick Galbraith finished third on a throw of 44-4.25 ft. and junior Pat Patterson-Zuber matched his career-best throw from last week with a 44-1.25 ft to finish fourth.

 

Sophomore Devon Greaves led Slaboda in the 60-meter hurdles as the only two competitors in the race posted times of 11.42 and 11.49, respectively. Freshman Mason Jolivette qualified for championships in the 200-meter dash with a 24.45 and finished fourth overall. Sophomore Dolan Cox finished third overall in the 400-meter dash and met the Centennial qualifying mark on a time of 55.06. Freshman David Kenny registered a career-best time of 2:07.15 to meet the Centennial qualifying mark and finished 12 in the race.

 

The Bears return to action on Saturday, February 26th as they will host and compete in the 2022 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center with a 10:30 a.m. start.
