Maloney, Reilly Pace Men's Track & Field on Day One of VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Ursinus Indoor Men's Track & Field team opened its two-day competition in the VMI Winter Classic on Friday afternoon.

 

The meet features 27 schools ranging from the Division I all the way up to the Division III level.

 

Junior Daniel Maloney came close to setting a new school record in the semis of the 60-meter hurdles after posting a time of personal-best time of 8.46 and is seeded second overall heading into the finals tomorrow. Senior Tyler Reilly led five Bear runners in the 400-meter dash that all posted personal bests by topping his current Centennial best time of 50.14. Reilly led all Division III runners in the event and finished 13th overall. Junior Peyton Stanziani (52.60), Tabor (52.66), freshman Tyler Wilson (52.71), and sophomore Devon Greaves (53.09) all topped previous personal bests in the 400. Senior Brandon Slaboda rounded out the Bears on the track by posting a time of 2:51.09 in the 1000 meters

 

 

In the weight throw, junior Isaiah Battle finished second among Division III throwers (10th overall) with a mark of 51-8.25 ft. and was followed by teammate senior Nick Galbraith with a throw of 49-10.5 ft., who was third among Division III throwers (13th overall). Junior Tim Holzapfel finished fifth among Division III throwers with a mark of 46-9 ft.

 

 

A pair of Bears competed in the triple jump, the lone jumping event of the day, and junior Daniel Tabor finished second among Division III competitors in the event (13th overall) with a mark of 43-2.5 ft. Sophomore Michael Agbeye finished fifth between the Division III jumpers after tallying a 39-1.25 ft.

 

The Bears will complete competition in the VMI Winter Classic tomorrow, February 12th starting at 10 a.m.
