Giannetti Places 11th at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Evan Giannetti capped his sensational senior season with by placing 11th in the javelin at the NCAA outdoor championships on Friday at North Carolina A&T.

Seeded 11th coming into the championships, Giannetti came up just short in his quest to become the Bears' first outdoor All-American since 2001 – and first outdoor field All-American in the Centennial Conference era.

Giannetti's first throw cleared just 45.82 meters, but he tacked on a full eight meters on his second and another 2.38 meters on the last. His third and final throw was his best of the day, a mark of 56.21 meters (184-5) that landed only a little more than a meter short of the eighth and final All-America slot.

Giannetti won the Centennial Conference javelin championship and secured All-Mideast Region status with a career-best 194-4.
