Men's T&F Trio Earns All-Region Honors

USTFCCCA All-Region

NEW ORLEANS – Three members of the Ursinus College men's track and field team earned All-Mideast Region recognition from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Top-5 individuals in each event earn all-region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Evan Giannetti, Griffin McMann, and Tyler Reilly received all-region awards for the Bears. Giannetti did so in the javelin and Reilly achieved it in the 400 meters, while McMann was an all-region recipient in both the discus and shot put.

Giannetti ranks third in the Mideast Region in the javelin, and his winning throw of 194-4 from the Centennial Conference championships was enough to punch his ticket to the NCAA outdoor championships later this week. The senior is seeded 11th nationally and is the first Bear since John Wood in the late 1980s to qualify for nationals in the event.

Ranking third in the discus (152-9) and fourth in the shot put (50-4.5), McMann is an all-region honoree for the second year in a row after collecting a certificate in the shot put last season. In addition to those two events, McMann also claimed gold in the hammer en route to becoming the program's first most outstanding field performer at the Centennial Conference championships. He also shared Ursinus' most outstanding male athlete honors with men's lacrosse's Hakan Atillasoy.

Reilly is also a two-time All-Mideast Region performer after qualifying as a member of the 4x400 relay a year ago. His first individual all-region accolade comes in the 400 meters, where his time of 49.22 from a last chance meet at TCNJ elevated him to fourth. The junior won silver in the 200 and bronze in the 400 at the CC championship meet.

The men's track and field team has now produced multiple all-region honorees in back-to-back outdoor seasons.
