Giannetti, McMann Shine at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Griffin McMann posted three more individual titles and extended his school record in the hammer for the second time this spring, while Evan Giannetti vaulted his way into the upper crust of the Division III performance list in the javelin for the Ursinus College men's track and field team at Saturday's Gettysburg Invitational.

McMann, who placed himself atop the record books at the Muhlenberg Invitational and added to it at the Dickinson Quad, cemented his spot with another historic heave. The senior tacked on nearly three feet to his previous benchmark with a 149-7 to take first prize. George Psaradakis was runner-up with a personal-best 128-3, and Isaiah Battle also notched a new PR to place fourth at 121-8.

Giannetti, meanwhile, staked his claim as one of the top javelin throwers in the country. The senior added over five feet to his previous high, which already led the conference, with a 181-8 that now places him 21st in Division III.

McMann's winning discus toss of 152-9 marked another new personal best and is currently ranked No. 27 in the nation. He also won the shot put at 48-2.75, and Nick Galbraith was fourth with a 41-1.

Daniel Maloney put up a blazing mark in the 110-meter hurdles, a scintillating race that ended with the top three finishers separated from each other by one hundredth of a second with the top clockings in the Centennial Conference this spring. Johns Hopkins sprinters took first and second place at 15.58 and 15.59, respectively, while Maloney snagged third with a 15.60. The time was .67 seconds clear of his previous personal best and was the best 110 hurdles performance by a Bear since Evan Shea clocked 15.17 at the CC championships in 2015.

Octavious Carter posted the best 100-meter dash time by a Bear this season, crossing the line in 11.61 seconds to move to 10th on the CC performance list. Jose Morales (12.03), Max Gadsden (12.17), and Muheer Mardirosyan (12.23) all made their debuts in the 100.

Carter and Gadsden notched matching times of 24.13 seconds in the 200, a new personal best for the latter.

At famous Franklin Field, the Bears' top 4x400 grouping competed in 2021's version of the Penn Relays.

Tyler Reilly, Devon Greaves, Daniel Tabor, and Payton Stanziani placed sixth in 3:23.89, the Bears' best time of the spring and tops in the Centennial Conference.
