Men's T&F Finishes Strong at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team concluded the Widener Invitational with a performance filled with personal bests.

Senior Mitchell Kelly improved to fourth in the Centennial Conference in the 400-meter hurdles, where his 57.58 was good for 11th place and just outside of scoring range for the Bears.

The Bears were impressive in the 400, where four sprinters achieved new standards. Senior Jequan Mitchell clocked a 51.62 in the 400, a season-best that now stands sixth in the CC. Sophomore Codi Yhap finished in 51.73, also a season best and good for ninth in the conference, and classmate James McDaid's 52.24 was a PR and ranks 12th. Kelly logged a season-best 53.50.

Yhap finished 17th in the long jump (6.11 meters), and freshman Mike Felix's 5.85-meter leap was a new collegiate best.

McDaid also produced a PR with a 4:09.03 in the 1500 meters, where freshman Kyle Berardi's 4:21.50 was also a new collegiate best. Junior Jonny Cope finished in a season-best 4:28.11.

Sophomore Craig Lauer registered a personal best in the steeplechase, placing 12th in 10:15.58 to take over eighth place on the conference charts.

Mitchell crossed the line in 11.62 seconds in the 100-meter dash, the 14th-best time in the conference this season. Sophomore Brody Johnson's 11.82 is good for 20th, and senior Jamie Casseus' 12.01 was a season best. Junior Shy'Quan Davis was right on the heels of Casseus with a 12.02, marking a PR by more than a third of a second.

Johnson's 24.72 in the 200 was a tenth of a tick off his season best.
