Four Medals for Men's T&F On Last Day of CC Champs

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team produced four medals and a few other place-winning performances as the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship came to an end on the third and final day of action at Johns Hopkins.

The Bears won two silvers and two bronzes, ultimately finishing in ninth place with 46 team points. Johns Hopkins cruised to its fourth straight title with 269.50 points, followed by Haverford (132.50), Swarthmore (91), Muhlenberg (90), Franklin & Marshall (63), Dickinson (58), Gettysburg (53), McDaniel (52), and Ursinus.

Junior Mitchell Kelly collected his first conference medal with a silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles. Kelly, who won the preliminaries, turned in a collegiate-best clocking of 56.47, also an ECAC qualifier. Classmate Jequan Mitchell was just off his career low with a 57.57 to place fifth.

Junior Adam Myers doubled down on shot put silver with a season-best toss of 49-0.75, giving him his second career CC medal to match the silver he earned at this year's indoor meet.

Senior Patrick Mekongo picked up his third career outdoor medal in the 200-meter dash, claiming bronze with a season-best 22.33. Mekongo was runner-up in 2015 and placed third in 2014.

Mitchell and Mekongo added to their hardware collection in the 4x100-meter relay, joining freshmen Codi Yhap and Austin Bittenbender to take third with a time of 43.51, just two-tenths of a second shy of their season best.

Yhap, Mitchell, Kelly, and Mekongo took seventh place in the 4x400-meter relay (3:28.71).

Sophomore Connor Lent and freshman Austin Bittenbender combined for five points in the javelin, each uncorking personal records. Lent's heave of 169-10 was good for sixth, while Bittenbender tallied 163-3 for seventh. Freshmen Cole Connelly (143-00) and Matthew Gallagher (140-00) finished 12th and 13th, respectively.

Freshman Carlo Telesco produced a career-best 41-6.00 to land in 11th place in the shot put.
