Men's T&F Competes at Greyhound Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team traveled to Moravian's Greyhound Invitational on Saturday, coming away with several new personal records in a solid showing.

Senior Patrick Mekongo registered a season-best 50.63 in the 400-meter dash, moving him to fourth on the Centennial Conference performance list. Freshman Andre Kelly jumped to seventh in the conference with a mark of 51.54, and fellow rookie Brody Johnson took more than 1.50 seconds off his previous personal best to cross the line in 53.99.

Junior Jequan Mitchell moved into the top five in the CC with a time of 58.42 in the 400-meter hurdles, good for a seventh-place showing overall.

Junior Mitchell Kelly shaved almost two full seconds off his collegiate best in the 800, finishing the race in 2:00.85.

Freshman Austin Bittenbender leapt up to eighth in the conference with a 19-4.25 in his first long jump entry.

Freshman Matthew Gallagher added five feet to his top javelin throw (130-3).

Kelly joined Johnson, McDaid, and freshman Craig Lauer to place sixth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:30.63).

Freshman James McDaid finished fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:32.94).

The Bears head to the Widener Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
