Men's T&F Strong at Danny Curran Invite

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team showed well at the two-day Danny Curran Invitational, posting several new personal bests in its second meet of the spring.

The Bears started the two-day meet with a bang on Friday night, with all three of its entrants producing impressive marks in the 10k. Junior Joseph Iuliucci shaved nearly a full minute off his personal record with a 33:06.50, covering the 6.2-mile course in just under 5:20 per mile.

Additionally, freshman Logan Mazullo (34:02.50) and sophomore Andrew Voyack (34:17.26) each registered Centennial Conference qualifying times in their 10-kilometer debuts.

On Saturday morning, senior Patrick Mekongo notched a conference-leading clocking of 22.58 in the 200-meter dash. Junior Jamie Casseus recorded a collegiate-best 11.49 in the 100-meter dash, and had a solid showing with a 23.52 in the 200, where freshman Codi Yhap was just ahead of Casseus at 23.47.

Yhap and Mekongo joined freshman Andre Kelly and junior Mitchell Kelly to finish fourth overall, and second among Division III squads, with a mark of 3:27.31 in the 4x400-meter relay.

Sophomore Adam Friend marked a season best with an 11-9.75 in the pole vault, good for ninth place overall.

The Bears take on the West Chester Invitational on Saturday, April 8.
