Men's Track and Field second at Colden Invite

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In a field of 14 teams, the Ursinus College men's track and field team finished second at its own Frank Colden Invitational with a score of 70 points.

On the track, sophomore Andrew Mackin took first in the 800 meter run, winning the event with a time of 2:00.24, beating Cameron Shirk of Messiah by .76.

Junior Darius Jones took fourth in the 200 dash with a time of 23.60, followed by sophomore Skyler McCormick in seventh at 23.73. Jones would also pick up a fourth place finish in the 400 dash at 52.51, with sophomore Erich Keyser in sixth at 52.80 and junior Richard Schulz in eighth at 53.50.

Sophomore Vincent Flood was in fourth in the 1 mile run at 4:34.38.

In the 60 hurdles, junior Evan Shea was fifth at 8.94 with Keyser sixth at 9.17.

The team of McCormick, Jones, Keyser and junior Anthony Sierzega were second in the 4x2 relay at 1:34.48. In the 4x8 relay, Flood, Mackin, sophomore David Slade and freshman Dylan Ammons were third at 9:24.71, followed by the team of sophomore James Hartop, sophomore Grant McPherson, freshman Andrew Simoncini and sophomore Jason Rudich in fifth at 9:48.98.

In the field events, Jones was fourth in the high jump at 5-10.75. Junior Marquis Wilson was second in the shot put at 44-03.25.

In the alumni mile, a first ever event at the Colden Invitational, Ursinus graduate Sam Stortz won the event at 5:25.71.
