Men's Track and Field tied for third at CC Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team tied for third place on Saturday after the two-day 2013 Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Ursinus with a team score of 94 points. The Bears tied with Dickinson College. 

Senior Chris Rountree (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) was named the Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet by the head coaches in the conference as he won the triple jump at 47-04.25 and was second in the long jump at 22-01.50. He also won the 60 hurdles at 8.38.

Sophomore Darius Jones (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) was first in the 400 meter dash at 50.91, tops in the high jump at 6-04.25, while earning a third place finish in the 200 meter dash at 23.23.

The Bears also won the 4x4 relay at the end of the meet as Jones, sophomore Richard Schulz (Village Shires, Pa./The George School), freshman Erich Keyser (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and junior Ian Wiggins (Princeton, N.J./The George School) took the top spot at 3:27.84. 

Keyser finished third in the 60 hurdles at 8.90, with Schulz taking third in the 400 at 51.61.

In the high jump, sophomore Evan Shea (Acton-Boxborough, Mass./Acton) was fourth at 6-00.75. 

In the other relays, the Bears were seventh in the 4x2 with the team of Skyler McCormick, Joe Brodsky, junior Chris Flood (Houston, Texas/Kingwood) and sophomore Kevin Cox (West Chester, Pa./Great Valley) crossing the line at 1:36.51. The team of senior Sam Stortz (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin), Vincent Flood, junior Charles Wacker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and Andrew Mackin were eighth in the 4x8 at 8:46.37. In the DMR, Vincent Flood, Wiggins, Stortz and Andrew Mackin were eighth at 11:01.32.

In the shot put, junior Brian Clancy (Havertown, Pa./Havertown) was fourth at 44-02.75, with sophomore Marquis Wilson (New Rochelle, N.Y./The Hackley School) taking fifth at 43-07.75.
