COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. –The Bears men's track and field team took second place at the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday afternoon hosted by Ursinus College with a score of 93 points for second place.
Senior Andrew Carr (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) took first place in the shot put at 14.26m. Sophomore Brian Clancy (Havertown, Pa./Havertown HS) took fourth at 12.45m. Freshman Marquis Wilson (New Rochelle, N.Y./The Hackley School) took fifth at 12.33m and junior Brett Smyers (Gardners, Pa./Biglerville) finished in eighth with 11.22m.
Senior Albert Desiderio (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) took seventh place in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.30.
Freshman Evan Shea (Acton-Boxborough, Mass./Acton) took seventh place in the 200 meter dash at 24.36.
Freshman Darius Jones (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) finished in third place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.31.
Sophomore Jatin Narang (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) took seventh place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:05.97. Freshman Richard Schulz (Village Shires, Pa./The George School) took eighth at 2:06.78.
Narang placed fourth in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:32.72.
Junior Mark Gapinski (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) took second in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:15.93.
Shea took third in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.92. Sophomore Chris Flood (Houston, Texas/Kingwood HS) took sixth at 9.95.
A team of Narang, junior Tyler Gofus (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School), senior Nick Pane (Radnor, Pa./Radnor High School) and senior Bogdan Lisachenko (Philadelphia, Pa./J.R. Masterson) took third in the 4X800 meter relay with a time of 8:59.75.
Jones placed second in the high jump at 1.88m. Shea took fourth at 1.73m. Freshman Phil Walker took fifth at 1.68m and senior Anthony Gochal (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier High School) finished in sixth at 1.53m.
Senior Nick Giarratano (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood) took second in the long jump at 6.23m. Gochal finished fifth at 5.59m and Walker took seventh at 4.96m.
The Bears host the Ursinus Invitational on Friday.
