Men's Track and Field fifth at Centennial Conference Championships

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team finished with a total team score of 85 at the 2011 Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon hosted by Muhlenberg College.

The Bears finished fifth in the field.

Sophomore Chris Rountree (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) finished in first in the triple jump with a NCAA provisional mark of 47 feet, 5 inches. Rountree also finished second in the 110 hurdles at 15.12 and was fourth in the 100 dash at 11.34.

In the 100 meter dash, sophomore Jordan Grannum (New Rochelle, N.Y./Brunswick School) was eighth at 12.99, while finishing seventh in the 200 at 23.14. In the 400, Grannum was fourth at 49.71, with senior Jeremy Garavel (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) in fifth at 50.17.

In the 800, senior Brendan Gifford (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) was fifth at 1:55.46.

Freshman Chris Flood (Houston, Texas/Kingwood) picked up a sixth place finish in the 110 hurdles at 17.12.

In the 4x1 relay, the team of junior Lance Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends School), Rountree, Grannum and freshman Alfred Freeman (Willingsboro, N.J./Holy Cross) finished fourth with a time of 43.274. The team of Garavel, freshman Ian Wiggins (Princeton, N.J./The George School), Gifford and Grannum finished fourth in the 4x4 relay at 3:22.35.

In the throws, senior Tony Santino (Delanco, N.J./Holy Cross) finished second at 179 feet, 7 inches, with junior Chris Salaga (Florence, N.J./Florence) finishing third at 179 feet, 5 inches. Sophomore Mark Gapinski (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) was seventh at 169-11, while Jones took eighth at 168-09.

In the shot put, junior Andrew Carr (Spring City, Pa./Phoenixville) took third at 14.46.

Dickinson won the overall title at 185 points, while Haverford was second at 150.
