Men's Track and Field eighth after day two of CCs

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team sits eighth after day two of the 2011 Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Muhlenberg College. The Bears have ten points heading into the final day.

In the days finals, Ursinus got a fourth place finish in the long jump from sophomore Chris Rountree (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) with a leap of 21-08.25. The team of junior Nick Pane (Radnor, Pa./Radnor), senior Justin Garavel (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow), junior Adam DiCaprio (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) and junior Bogdan Lisachenko (Philadelphia, Pa./J.R. Masterson) finished seventh in the 4x8 relay with a time of 8:24.35.

Senior John Yokomizo (West Windsor, N.J./WWP-South) finished seventh in the decathlon with a point total of 4115 which earned the Bears three team points.

In the day's prelims, the Bears set themselves up for a good Sunday as Rountree and sophomore Jordan Grannum (New Rochelle, N.Y./Brunswick School) advanced to the finals of the 100 meter dash, as Rountree finished with a time of 11.21 and Grannum had an 11.27. Lance Jones just missed the top eight, finishing with a time of 11.389 just .001 behind the eighth-place finisher.

Grannum took the top seed in the 400 with a time of 49.31, with Garavel getting a 50.33. In the 200, Grannum won his heat with a time of 22.72, while Rountree was eighth at 22.93. Senior Brendan Gifford (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) is in the finals of the 800 with a time of 1:54.98.

In the hurdles, Rountree got a 15.41 while freshman Chris Flood (Houston, Texas/Kingwood) got a 17.00 to advance to the finals.
