Men's Track and Field second at Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team finished second out of ten teams on Saturday at the Goucher College Track and Field Invitational with a total team score of 111 points. The Bears were just 27 behind first-place Salisbury.

Starting in the field events, junior Chris Salaga won the javelin throw with a mark of 56.10 meters, with senior Tony Santino finishing second at 49.75. Junior Lance Jones was fourth at 46.90.

In the shot put, junior Andrew Carr was third at 13.95 meters, but, earned eight points for the Bears as the top place winner was unattached. Sophomore Brett Smyers was sixth at 11.44 meters, while Brian Clancy was eighth at 11.12 meters.

On the track, freshman Jatin Narang was first in the 10k, finishing with a time of 33:29.42. In the sprints, sophomore Jordan Grannum was third at 11.41 in the 100 meter dash, with Grannum earning a seventh place finish in the 200 meter dash at 23.64.

In the 400 meter dash, freshman Alfred Freeman was sixth at 52 seconds flat, while freshman Chris Flood was seventh at 52.11.

Senior Brendan Gifford was second in the 800 meter run at 1:59.51, while Jeremy Garavel was fifth at 2:01.31. Garavel was third in the 1500 meter run at 4:11.66.

In the hurdles, Flood was fourth in the 110 (17.63) and the 400 at 1:00.56. Senior John Yokomizo was eighth at 20.47 in the high hurdles.

Junior Bogdan Lisachenko was third in the steeple at 11:23.52.

In the 4x1 relay, the team of Jones, Grannum, senior Charles Prete and sophomore Chris Rountree won the event at 44.75.
