Men's Track and Field third at Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus College men's track and field team finished third on Friday at the Collegeville Classic with a total team score total of 70 points.

The men were led by sophomore Jordan Grannum (New Rochelle, N.Y./Brunswick School), who won the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.32 and placed fourth in the 55 meter with a time of 6.72.

Grannum was responsible for 15 points individually and also competed in the 4X200 relay and the distance medley, which the Bears took second place in. Grannum's efforts were aided by sophomore Chris Rountree (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) , who also earned points in four different events. Rountree finished sixth in the 200 meter (23.91), second in the 55 hurdles (8.00), fifth in the long jump (20-3.75 feet) and joined Grannum on the 4X200 team.

The Bears were represented in the 3000 run by freshman Justin Narang (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg), who finished second and brought home eight points.

Senior Brendan Gifford (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) finished fourth in the 800 run with a time of 2:00.95, earning five points.

The Bears had two second place team finishes in the 4X200 and the Distance medley relays. The 4X200 team, which finished in 1:34.23 and took home eight points, included Grannum, Rountree, senior Charles Prete (Herndon, Va./Kellum) and junior Lance Jones (Philadelphia, Pa/Friends Central).

The Distance Medley team was made up of Grannum, Gifford, senior Jeremy Garavel (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) and sophomore Sam Stortz (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin).

Junior Andrew Carr (Spring City, Pa./Phoenixville) finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.08 meters (46-2.5 feet).

Prete also placed seventh in the long jump 20-1.75 feet. Freshman Ian Wiggins (Princeton, N.J./The George School) finished eighth in the 400 with a time of 54.65.
