Men's Track starts 2011 at Kutztown Invitational

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Ursinus College men's track and field team wrapped up its early return from winter break with the Kutztown Invitational on Friday. A select number of athletes returned to campus early to get a head start on training for the Indoor and Outdoor track seasons, and the results certainly showed.

Sophomore Chris Rountree (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) took first place in the Triple Jump, jumping 13.76 meters. Rountree also took fifth place in the 55 dash with a 6.80. The men also had a strong showing in the 200 meter dash, with third and fifth place finishes by sophomore Jordan Grannum (New Rochelle, N.Y./Brunswick School) and junior Lance Jones (Philadelphia, PA/Friends Central School) respectively.

In the distance events, senior Jeremy Garavel (Redding, Conn/Joel Barlow High School) took second place in the 800 with a time of 2:02.56, and sophomore Sam Stortz (Dresher, PA/Upper Dublin) took second place in the 3000 with a time of 9:13.82.

Junior Andrew Carr (Spring City, PA/Phoenixville) took third place in the shot put, throwing 14.17 meters.
