NEWARK, Del. - The Ursinus College Track and Field teams started
off 2010 in fine fashion as the Bears took the top spot in Division
II-Division III portion of the University of Delaware
Invitational.
The women won the event with a score of 156, while the men won with
a team total of 167 points.
Sophomore Andrew Carr (Spring City,
Pa./Phoenixville) was the lone double winner for the
Bears, as he won both the shot put (45-07.25) and the weight throw
(30-7).
Senior Nick Bendas (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks
East) won the triple jump at 41-01, followed by senior
Travis Youngs (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mercersburg)
winning the high jump by clearing six feet.
On the track, sophomore Al Desiderio (Philadelphia,
Pa./Roman Catholic) won the 200 meters at 23.26, followed
by sophomore Ben Mosher (Hershey, Pa./Lower
Dauphin) winning the 1k at 2:56.22. Junior Jeremy
Garavel (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) captured the mile run
with a time of 4:38.38.
