COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus College track and field teams
opened the indoor season on Saturday by hosting the Winter
Invitational. The women were fourth of 18 teams with 38 points,
while the men were sixth of 15 teams with 39 points.
For the men, freshman Jordan Grannum (New Rochelle,
N.Y./Brunswick School (Conn.)) took eighth in the
200-meter dash at 24.09, while junior Brett Imbemba
(Marlboro, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was seventh in the 800
with a time of 2:07.49.
Junior Justin Garavel (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow)
was eighth in the mile at 4:47.71 and seventh in the 5k at
16:40.75.
The team of senior Nick Bendas (Doylestown, Pa/C.B.
East), senior Sean Hall (Doylestown, Pa./C.B.
East), Grannum and Anthony Gochal was sixth in the 4x2
relay at 1:36.95
The men also took eighth in the 4x4 relay as Garavel, junior
Jeremy Garavel (Redding, Conn../Joel Barlow),
sophomore John Ryder (Horsham,
Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and sophomore Ben Mosher
(Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) finished with a time of
3:44.85.
In the field events, sophomore Andrew Carr (Spring City,
Pa./Phoenixville) was fourth in the shot put at 13.47
meters
Bendas was fifth in the long jump at 6.28 meters, followed by
senior Travis Youngs (Mount Vernon,
N.J./Mercerburg) in sixth at 6.25 meters. Bendas took
fourth in the triple at 12.71 meters, while Youngs was sixth in the
high jump at 1.93 meters.
Finally, junior Inki Hong (North Wales, Pa./North
Penn) was third in the pole vault at 3.66 meters.
