Men's Tennis Shuts Out Moravian

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's tennis team continued its success on its indoor courts with a 9-0 blanking of Moravian in non-conference action Sunday.

Playing their third home match on the Floy Lewis Bakes Center field house courts, the Bears moved to 7-2 on the season with a dominating performance up and down the lineup.

Junior Max Oberholtzer became the 11th player in program history to reach 50 career wins when he and sophomore Paul Vecchio took down Giovanni Lombardi and David Wilson at first doubles.

Senior Chanton Phan and junior Peter Shields were 8-1 winners over Peter Demyan and Isaac Schefer at number two doubles, while senior Henry Burke and freshman Connor DeFaber-Schumacher shut out Austin Grace and Chris Csencsits 8-0 at number three doubles.

Oberholtzer blanked Lombardi 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles, with Vecchio and Phan clinching the match with matching 6-2, 6-2 scores at second and third, respectively.

Burke bested Schefer 6-0, 6-3 at number four, Shields routed Grace 8-1 at number five, and sophomore Jake Lachowicz closed the proceedings with a 9-7 triumph over Csencsits.

The men's tennis team resumes Centennial Conference play at Swarthmore on Tuesday, March 28.
