Oberholtzer Named CC Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – For the second time this season, sophomore Max Oberholtzer of the Ursinus College men's tennis team was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week.

Oberholtzer won five of his six matches during a 2-1 week for the Bears, going a perfect 3-0 at number one singles to stretch his dual record to a sparkling 13-2.

Oberholtzer played a key role in Thursday's 5-4 victory over Washington College, the first against a regionally ranked opponent in program history. He teamed with freshman Paul Vecchio to win a tiebreaker at first doubles, then came back for a straight-set win at first singles to help Ursinus chart a course to a historic triumph.

The sophomore star was a double winner in Saturday's 8-1 rout at Gettysburg before registering perhaps his most impressive result of the season, a three-set defeat of Wilkes' Courtney Murphy – the 25th-ranked player in the Atlantic South region – on Sunday.

Oberholtzer had previously been named Player of the Week on March 21.

The Bears head to TCNJ on Tuesday before coming back to Collegeville for Senior Day against McDaniel on Saturday.
