Men's Tennis Defeated by Nationally Ranked Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. – Challenging a nationally ranked opponent on the road, the Ursinus College men's tennis team came up on the short end of an 8-1 Centennial Conference verdict at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior captain Tyler Arsenault played a brilliant match at second singles, knocking off Zack Levin 6-3, 6-1 to lock up the lone point for Ursinus (8-3, 0-3).

Franklin & Marshall (10-1, 3-0), ranked 26th in Division III and 8th in the Atlantic South region, stretched its winning streak to ten and remained unbeaten in 50 all-time meetings with Ursinus (48-0-2).

Arsenault's impressive victory gave him 103 for his career; he teamed with fellow senior captain Dalton Lynch to come closest to victory in doubles, an 8-5 setback on the second court.

Sophomore Max Oberholtzer put up a spirited fight against the Diplomats' Doug Kaplan, ranked No. 14 in the region – at number one singles, ultimately suffering a 7-5, 6-4 defeat.

Wednesday marked the first of consecutive meetings with nationally ranked foes for the Bears, who welcome No. 21 Johns Hopkins – the CC's nine-time defending champion – to the Bailey Courts for a 1:00 p.m. match on Saturday.
