Dickinson Doubles up Men's Tennis

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – A sweep of doubles play left the Ursinus College men's tennis team in a hole, and despite a valiant comeback effort, the Bears were unable to make up the ground in a 6-3 Centennial Conference loss to Dickinson on Saturday.

Sophomore Max Oberholtzer was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at first singles, improving to 9-1 in dual matches on the season.

After Dickinson (2-5, 1-1) got to the precipice of victory with a straight-set decision at third singles, sophomore Peter Shields (6-1, 6-2) and senior Tyler Arsenault (6-1, 7-5) pulled Ursinus (8-2, 0-2) to within 4-3 courtesy of straightforward triumphs at sixth and second singles, respectively. But the Red Devils outlasted their Bear counterparts in a pair of three-set marathons at numbers four and five to secure the league result.

Ursinus returns to Centennial Conference action with a trip to Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, April 6. The Diplomats are ranked 26th in Division III and 8th in the Atlantic South region.
