Arsenault Wins 100th as Men's Tennis Sweeps Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – Senior captain Tyler Arsenault reached a monumental milestone in the Ursinus College men's tennis team's 9-0 sweep at Cabrini, becoming just the second player in school history to eclipse the 100-win mark.

Arsenault joined Evan Stutchin '14 as the program's lone 100-match winners with an 8-0 rout alongside fellow senior captain Dalton Lynch at number two doubles to help Ursinus (8-1) rebound in a big way from its first loss of the season. The Bears dropped only seven total games in their fifth shutout of the season.

Junior Henry Burke and sophomore Peter Shields completed an 8-0 blanking at third doubles, while sophomore Max Oberholtzer and freshman Paul Vecchio polished off the sweep courtesy of an 8-1 decision at number one.

Arsenault picked up his 101st career win in style, posting a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing at second singles; Lynch (third), Vecchio (fourth), and freshman Jake Lachowicz (sixth) also registered double bagels for the Bears. Shields was a 6-2, 6-1 victor at fifth singles, and Oberholtzer matched that verdict at the top flight.

The men's tennis team returns to Centennial Conference action with a home match against Dickinson on Saturday, April 2.

Coach's Corner

"I want to congratulate Tyler on getting his 100th career win today," said head coach Pete Smith. "I still remember the day he called me to tell me he was committing to Ursinus...that was a big day for the men's tennis program. He has been an incredible competitor and leader in his four years here, and I have enjoyed coaching him so much. He has been a part of some of the best years in the history of this program, and he is a major reason for the success we have had. He deserves all the success he has had, and hopefully he can finish his senior year by leading this team to a special season."
