Seniority Rules
With five seniors in the starting line up, the Ursinus College Men's Tennis Team defeated Gettysburg 8-1 on Saturday.  The win snapped a four-match skid for Ursinus.

The Bears (11-6, 1-5 CC) got off to a quick start, sweeping all three doubles flights in impressive fashion.  Seniors Matt Hope and Evan Stutchin found themselves trailing 3-0 at first doubles before ripping off eight straight games in an 8-3 victory.  In the second flight, seniors Evan Lord and Logan Metcalf-Kelly were solid throughout in another 8-3 win.  In the third flight match, sophomore Tyler Arsenault teamed with freshman Henry Burke to produce an 8-2 victory.

In singles, the Bears' seniors tallied 3 more wins as Ursinus won five of the six singles matches.  Evan Stutchin defeated Dave Musser in the first flight 6-1, 6-1, to give the home team a 4-0 advantage.  Senior Dylan Marsh then clinched the win with a decisive 6-1, 6-2 win at sixth singles.  Senior Logan Metcalf-Kelly got into the act at fourth singles, downing Gettysburg's Kevin DeRosa 7-6 (7-3), 6-0.

Arsenault and Burke closed out the scoring for the Bears, as they won straight set victories at the third and fifth flights respectively.

"I am really honored to have coached this group of seniors," Bears head coach Pete Smith said.  "I have spent four terrific years with these guys.  They have accomplished a great deal and have left an indelible mark on Ursinus Men's Tennis.  I am really grateful for every day I have had with them.  They took a program with basically very little tradition and they made their own history.  I am very proud of them."

The Bears will be back on the courts on Wednesday, April 16th, when they travel to Scranton for a 4:00 pm match.
