The Ursinus College Men's Tennis team completed a successful Spring Break trip Thursday by defeating Illinois Wesleyan and Colby Sawyer College, running their record to 7-1 on the season.  

The Bears started strong again in the doubles portion of the morning match against Illinois Wesleyan.  The first doubles team of Matt Hope and Evan Stutchin and the second doubles team of Evan Lord and Logan Metcalf-Kelly were winners by identical 8-4 scores.  In the third flight, Dylan Marsh and Tyler Arsenault made it a 3-0 lead with an 8-2 win.

Singles were more of the same as the Bears won 5 of 6 matches.  Evan Stutchin continued his stellar spring play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles.  Metcalf-Kelly, Dalton Lynch, Henry Burke and Mike Melchiorre also collected wins en route to the 8-1 win.

In the evening match, the Bears went up 2-1 in doubles play against Colby Sawyer.  Hope and Stutchin won their third straight match of the trip, 8-3, while Lord and Metcalf-Kelly were sharp in an 8-1 win.

The singles play was very competitive, but the Bears came through in 5 of the 6 matches.  Stutchin ran his spring break singles record to 6-0 with a tough 6-3, 6-4 win, while Arsenault, Metcalf-Kelly and Marsh all won in straight sets.  Dalton Lynch got the final point of the match with a 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 win that made the final score 7-2. 

The Bears return home next week and are scheduled to host Swarthmore on Wednesday, March 19 at 4 pm.
