The Ursinus Men's Tennis team got back on the winning track Wednesday, defeating the Knights from Mt. St. Mary's (NY) by a 7-2 score in Orlando, Florida.
The Bears (5-1) got off to a quick start, sweeping the doubles portion of the match. Evan Stutchin and Matt Hope were winners in the first flight, while Evan Lord and Logan Metcalf-Kelly were victorious at the second flight. At third doubles, junior Mike Melchiorre teamed up with freshman Henry Burke to give Ursinus a 3-0 lead with an 8-6 win.
In singles, Stutchin, Tyler Arsenault, and Metcalf-Kelly were dominant in the top three spots, with all winning in straight sets while surrendering only 7 combined games. The Bears earned their final point of the match when Burke, playing in the fifth flight, completed a strong comeback effort with a 5-7, 6-1, 10-4 victory.
The Bears close their spring break matches on Thursday with a challenging double header, as they will face Illinois Wesleyan at noon, followed by a match with last year's North Atlantic Conference champions, Colby Sawyer College.
