Stutchin and Hope compete at Centennial Conference Invitational

SWARTHMORE, Pa.- Ursinus College men's tennis juniors Evan Stutchin (Cape Coral, Fla./Canterbury School) and Matt Hope (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson) opened the fall portion of the men's tennis season by competing at the Centennial Conference Invitational this weekend.  The inaugural event was held on the Faulkner Courts at Swarthmore College.
 
In the A flight of singles, Stutchin opened with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Brian Kron of McDaniel.  He then fell in two tightly contested matches against Will Golinkin of Dickinson and Sam Weissler of Johns Hopkins.
 
In the B flight, Hope recovered from an opening round defeat to win his final two matches.  He defeated Franco Mena of Dickinson 6-1, 6-1, and followed that with another impressive performance in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Matt Langsdale of McDaniel. 
 
In championship flight of doubles, the duo played very well in victories over teams from both F&M and Swarthmore.  They advanced to the finals where they were beaten by Sam Weissler and Chris Jou by a score of 8-3.
