Men's Tennis falls to F&M, 8-1

LANCASTER, Pa. The Ursinus Men's Tenis team (7-5, 0-3) fell to Franklin & Marshall 8-1 in a Centennial Conference match on Wednesday in Lancaster.
 
The match started off in tight fashion as the Bears played well in the doubles portion of the match.  The third doubles team of David Rowe and Mike Melchiorre got on the board first with a 8-5 win over Cameron Relic and Peter Bookman.  The first doubles team of Evan Stutchin and Evan Lord came up just short in an 8-6 loss, and the second doubles duo of Matt Hope and Bennett Krantz also had a close call, falling 8-5.
 
F & M swept the singles matches, but the Bears went down swinging.  Matt Hope lost 7-5, 6-1 in the third flight, and Mike Melchiorre lost 7-5, 6-2 in the sixth flight.  The loss was Melchiorre's first as a collegiate.
 
In the closest singles match of the day, Bennett Krantz lost a 3rd set super tiebreaker to Alec Tunner at 5th singles by a score of 5-7., 6-2, 13-11.
 
The Bears get right back to work on Thursday as they travel to Cabrini for a 4 pm non-conference match.
