YORK, Pa. - In their lone fall dual match, the Ursinus College men's tennis team was in good form Saturday as they went on the road and downed York College 9-0.
The Bears (1-0) got off to a fast start in doubles as they seized a 3-0 lead. The first doubles team of Evan Stutchin and Evan Lord won their match 8-4, and the second doubles team of Matt Hope and Brent Stevenson won by an identical score. At third doubles, Dave Rowe and partner Logan Metcalf-Kelly rallied from a 7-5 deficit to pull out a 9-8 (7-5) victory.
The Bears continued their strong play as Stutchin defeated Phil Myers 6-2, 6-2 at first singles. Stevenson, Hope, Lord and Metcalf-Kelly all followed with straight set victories.
In the most competitive match of the day, Dave Rowe came from a set down at 5th singles to defeat James Villari 2-6, 6-4, 12-10.
