Men's Tennis drops season finale to Muhlenberg, 5-4

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's tennis team closed out 2011 with a  tough, 5-4 loss to Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon in a match played indoors at the Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse due to weather.

The Bears had a 4-1 lead but, could not get the last four points in their season finale, finishing the year 11-9 and 1-8 in conference play.

The day started with Ursinus taking the top flight doubles match as the team of freshman Evan Stutchin (Cape Coral, Fla./Canterbury School) and freshman Evan Lord (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) defeated Rob Goldwein and Jason Teitelbaum, 8-6. At number two flight doubles, freshman Matt Hope (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson) and freshman Brent Stevenson (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) defeated Jordan Rutt and Ben Berkowicz, 8-4.

In singles play, Stuchin defeated Rutt at first flight, 6-3, 6-3, while Lord defeated Teitelbaum, 6-2, 6-4.
