Men's Tennis blanks Arcadia, 9-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – For the second season in a row, the Ursinus College men's tennis team has reached the ten win plateau win a 9-0 win over Arcadia on Thursday afternoon.

More importantly, the Bears accomplished back-to-back ten win seasons for the first time in school history.

Ursinus started off the day by sweeping doubles play as the team of freshman Matt Hope (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson) and freshman Brent Stevenson (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) defeated Bart Blankenship and Kevin Langner, 8-3 at number one flight. At number two flight, freshman Dylan Marsh (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and sophomore Sean Kelley (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) defeated Eric Ellie and Herminio Quinones, 8-2.

Freshman Bennet Krantz (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran) and freshman Justin Rusin-Smalley (South River, N.J./Saint John Vianney) battled in their third flight match, taking a 9-8 decision over Max Ameil and Marc Ruggia via a 7-4 tiebreaker.

In singles play, freshman Evan Stutchin (Cape Coral, Fla./Canterbury School) defeated Blankenship, 6-0, 6-0 at number one flight, with Hope netting a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Langner at number two flight.

At number three flight, Stevenson defeated Ellie, 6-0, 6-0, with freshman David Rowe (South Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) defeating Ameil, 6-1, 6-0 at number four flight.

Senior Kevin Dean (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) defeated Ruggia at number five flight, 6-0, 6-0, with sophomore Nick Rall (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) defeating Quinones, 6-0, 6-1 at number six flight.
