Men's Tennis matches best start in school history with 9-0 win over Alvernia

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's tennis team tied the best start in school history on Thursday afternoon, blanking Alvernia by a 9-0 score. The Bears are currently 6-1, which also happened during the 1951 and 1985 seasons.

For the Bears, the day started off with the team of Dylan Marsh and David Rowe defeating Howard Kelly and Ryan Ludwig by a 8-0 score at number three flight doubles. Brent Stevenson and Sean Kelley then defeated Zach Marsar and Kevin Brandt at number two doubles, 8-3.

Finally, at number one flight doubles, Evan Stutchin and Matt Hope defeated Jed Spangler and Nathan Bauer, 8-2.

In singles play, Chris Wyshock won his match at number four flight, 6-1, 6-0, over Brandt, followed by a 6-1, 6-2, win by Stevenson over Zach Marsar, at number three flight.

Rowe won his match at number six flight, 6-1, 6-0, over Ludwig at number six flight, while Marsh won his match at number five flight, 6-0, 6-0, over Kelley.

Stuchin improved his season record to 8-2, by defeating Spangler at number one flight, 6-1, 6-2, with Hope finishing the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bauer at number two flight.

Ursinus is scheduled to host Cabrini/PSU-Berks on Saturday in a tri-match.
