Two men's tennis players take part in ITA Regionals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Two members of the Ursinus College men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Tournament hosted by Mary Washington University.

Freshman Evan Stutchin played in the B1 draw, while, freshman Matt Hope played in the B2 draw.

After a first round loss to Matt Romei of Haverford by 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 score, Stutchin won his next three matches to win the B1 backdraw.

He defeated Gavin Smith of York (Pa.), 6-1 and 1-0 as Smith retired in the second set. In his next match, he went on to play Joey Manilla of Christopher Newport, defeating him 6-4, 6-3, before handing Swarthmore's Christian Carcione of Swarthmore, 6-4, 7-5 to win the B1 backdraw.

Hope played in the B2 draw, defeating Caleb Fuller of Grove City College, 6-3, 6-2, before falling to Seth Udelson of Swarthmore, 6-3, 6-1.

The Ursinus men's tennis team will compete in a doubleheader on Saturday, taking on Messiah at 10 a.m. before battling Lebanon Valley at 2:30 p.m..
