Carkhuff Sets School Record, Lear Earns Second All-American Nod on Final Day of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Ursinus senior swimmers Ryan Carkhuff and Sophie Lear wrapped up their NCAA Division III Swimming Championship appearance and decorated Ursinus Swimming careers by competing in the 100 freestyle on Saturday.

 

 

 Carkhuff capped his week by topping his old school record set in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.08 this morning in the prelims. He bested his old mark of 45.41 and finished 35th overall. He finishes his career with two school records, four medals at Centennial Championships, and becoming the first Bears Men's Swimmer to compete in the NCAA Championship meet.

 

 

Lear earned her second All-American nod of the championships by finishing 15th in the B-finals for the event. She posted a time of 51.17 in the finals after recording a career-best time of 51.07 in the prelims this morning. Lear caps her career with five All-American certificates, 12 gold medals at Centennial Championships, two Most Outstanding Swimmer honors from the Centennial, a most outstanding rookie honor from the Centennial, and two individual school records.
