Leitz, Menzer Collect CollegeSwimming Honors

CollegeSwimming Release

Following standout performances at Division I Villanova on Saturday, CollegeSwimming has tabbed Ursinus College swimmers Jacob Menzer and Meggie Leitz as its Centennial Conference Swimmers of the Week.

Menzer, a sophomore, finished second in the 200 free (1:45.53) and the 500 free, where his time of 4:50.37 was just 0.14 seconds behind the event winner. He was also involved in a pair of relays, including the 400 free relay squad that finished third in 3:14.49.

Leitz held her own and then some against a Wildcats program that has won the last four Big East championships. The senior placed runner-up in the 200 fly (2:09.24) and fourth in the 100 fly (59.05), where junior Clara Baker was third. She also swam the last leg of the 400 free relay, which touched the wall in 3:42.65.

Leitz' selection gives the Ursinus women's swimming team a CollegeSwimming honoree for the second consecutive week, after freshman Sophie May received the same laurel.

The swimming teams continue their seasons with a CC dual at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
