Men's Swimming Places Sixth at CC Championships

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior William Benn garnered a silver medal and senior Chris Hoops captured a bronze as the Ursinus College men's swimming team finished the three-day Centennial Conference championships in sixth place with a total of 398.5 points.

Gettysburg won its sixth consecutive conference title with 689 points, followed by Swarthmore (602.5), Washington College (559.5), Franklin & Marshall (467.5), Dickinson (460.5), Ursinus, and McDaniel (234.5).

Benn captured his silver in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:54.16. Senior James Marrone (1:58.03) finished seventh, and classmate Henry Nonack was sixth in the B finals.

Hoops, meanwhile, earned a bronze in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a clocking of 1:56.36 to make the podium. Sophomore Colin McNamara (1:56.85) finished fifth, and freshman Johnny Myers (1:58.41) was eighth overall. Senior Alec Heckman (1:59.80) placed fifth in the B finals.

Junior Marcus Wagner finished fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:37.02), just missing out on a spot at the podium. Sophomore Chris Barthold, freshman Kevin Gill, and Nonack all qualified for the B finals in the event.

Junior Dylan Cooper tied for fourth in the 100-yard freestyle B finals with a clocking of 47.86.

Four Bears earned points in the 200-yard breaststroke B finals, led by freshman Max Coulter, who placed fourth in 2:13.51. Senior Keith Larkin was right behind in 2:13.75, while freshmen Reid Luksic (2:15.29) and Devin Nielsen (2:17.59) rounded out the Ursinus contingent.

Junior Spencer Collopy, freshman Travis Venables, McNamara, and Cooper placed sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay to close the book on the Bears' championship stay.
